Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of 18-year-old Nigerian winger Zadok Yohanna from AIK Stockholm. The Premier League club announced the five-year contract on Saturday. The deal runs until June 2031. Terms remain undisclosed.
Yohanna moved to AIK Stockholm in 2025 from Ikon Allah Academy in Kaduna. He earned promotion to the senior squad within two months. His rapid rise attracted interest from Chelsea, Manchester City and Newcastle United. Brighton outpaced all rivals to secure his signature.
The teenager told Brighton’s media team he wanted to make his family proud. “I know where I came from,” Yohanna said. “I have done that.” Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has already monitored his progress. Yohanna is expected to train with Brighton’s development squad before breaking into the first team.
Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler praised Yohanna’s creativity. “He is a player that can impact games in the final third,” Hurzeler said. “He brings the kind of creativity our fans will enjoy.” The club paid £21.5 million for the transfer. The summer window opens on June 15.
Yohanna scored five goals and provided four assists in 18 appearances for AIK. His direct dribbling and pace have drawn comparisons to Nigerian legend Victor Moses. Brighton’s youth-focused system has produced talents like Moises Caicedo and Evan Ferguson. Yohanna becomes the latest prospect to join the pipeline.
